Todd Group International Hub Country Thailand Training Resuming

International Close Combat Instructors Association Members Instructing on a Thailand Combative Course

We are pleased to announce the re-establishment of training in Thailand, our International hub country. We have been involved in CQC/H2H training in Thailand since 1991 in training, qualifying and instructing capacities. In the last three decades we have conducted wide ranging courses as well as conducting CQC testing phases and qualification courses. In the early years I instructed on courses along with fellow international close combat instructors association members and Todd Group exponents attended these courses.

We were hosted at Lopburi Camp A03 by General Chanit retired and former US S/F Master-Sergeant Ken Richter of the Rangers Training Group in joint venture training provision.

The late Captain Ammo was a loyal friend on Lopburi courses that took care of all our training needs

From all the former training organisations in Thailand that we have been involved with conducting courses of previous we are the only group still conducting military and civilian pers courses in mil CQC/CQB/MSD/CPP in Thailand.

We had just conducted a short test course at our new joint venture facility at Sattahip and I had just returned home to conduct the annual Australasian course when covid put all upcoming courses on hold.

Previous dual country CPO training course Thailand training components

Following the CPP course we will conduct an all ranks CQB/CQC/MSD course November 28 to December 4. This course will be for new entry Phase 1 Basic non-member accepted applicants and current Todd Group Phase 1 Basic, Phase 2 Advanced exponents and Phase 3 Specialist proponents.

The course will be conducted at different bases and facilities and will take the form of both a new member recruiting course along with current member continuation training course and a former courses reunion with training being conducted in Chonburi, Sattahip and Lopburi.

Some senior members have already course confirmed and made flight reservations such is the interest in this combined training and reunion and new members attendance courses of instruction.

This will be a reunion course for current members that have attended many of our standalone and joint-venture courses dating back to the 1990s.

The Todd Group has different training bases and facilities throughout Thailand at our disposal and we will confirm the locations and bases that will be utilised to confirmed attendees.

Thailand provides very diverse training environments ranging from ocean/foreshore through to jungle and flatlands, making training and battle handling exercises varied, challenging and interesting.

Along with the new joint venture facility established in 2019, a training component will be added to an established security, close personal protection and private investigation services provision organisation operated by one of our training exponents in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

We have received interest from Chiang Mai over recent years and some years back visited the region to evaluate options. Now with staff on the ground with the newly established security, close protection and private investigation business the time is right to begin recruiting.

It has been a long three years waiting to recommence training in our international hub country of Thailand for not only Todd Group HQ training team members but also our Todd Group Thailand based staff.

The interest has been continuous not only from New Zealand and Australian based members but also Thailand and other Southeast Asian countries close combat enthusiasts.

Many of the previous attendees on courses have been by referrals and we have had new entry-level Basic Phase 1 exponents on courses from United States, United Kingdom, India, China, Singapore, Japan, Germany, South Africa, Russia, Canada, France, Australia and many from New Zealand.

There have been friends and family members of serving military elite and former military personnel as well as police officers and close protection specialists testament to the power of referrals.

We have conducted standalone close personal protection courses in Thailand delivered in English and Thai as well as dual country close personal protection specialist courses with the first week of training being conducted in New Zealand at Camp Todd and Todd Group HQ and the second week of training in Thailand.

These land, air, sea and rail courses being conducted in an English-speaking country and in a country where English is not the first language provides added advantages with partaking in training and training exercises as well as an international long haul flight best preparing attendees to work globally in close protection. Some courses are combined military and civilian exponent courses which is a unique experience for both parties.

Todd Group Thailand Mil CQC course

On early Ranger Training Group courses there were also special interest elite adventure training components like survival training, rappelling, jump tower and running confidence courses. There is less of a focus on this type of additional training now as maximum time is required for CQC exponent training and preparing volunteer candidates for testing. Most attendee’s objective being current training exponents, proponents and instructors and operators is that they want to attend and train the military courses intensive close combat training way for the full course duration.

Current and former military serving attendees have a lot of experience with battle fitness training, confidence courses and high level physical fitness training and attend our courses specifically to undergo elite European military armed and unarmed combat training and military self-defence training.

Most have done their research or had attended courses before that they thought were going to be instructed by military elite close combat Master-Instructors providing training in their most current military CQC/MSD skills, only to discover the instructors were not military qualified Master-Instructors and the training was more based on traditional fighting arts and was not what they were looking for.

The attendees know what they want and expect primary proven tactics and skills training under an intensive regime of training and for those that volunteer for testing they expect it to be hard, heavy and hostile and this what they get. Our courses attract practical realists that are serious and committed to undertaking challenging training that are strictly military elite instructed packages.

It is important that there is minimal interruption and they get maximum training hours on course.

All additional training must be same systems like our amphib CQC/MSD, tactical detainee handling C&R and skill at arms.

What attracts exponents on these courses is the opportunity to train from the oldest private training provider of European specialist close quarters combat, military self-defence and close quarters battle. By majority attendees are not interested in partaking in traditional arts or competitive sports training, but are looking for military elite close combat and military self-defence training.

These courses are not only a top training experience but also a cultural experience and the top lads and lasses that have attended such courses have thrived challenging themselves and enjoying the camaraderie that is all part of our mil CQC courses. They make new friends from other countries that share the same interest in mil close combat and have the same desire to achieve their best combative competency.

All accepted attendees must be responsible of integrity and must be committed to achieving self-improvement.

There are only limited positions on this course due to logistics and based on accepted applicants filling those positions the course will be cut off to applications once the full muster is achieved.
