We are running at capacity schedules and workloads with projects the upcoming Centenary celebrations in March 2027 as well as completing 2026 courses. This combined with ongoing training provision including the most recent Phase 2 Advanced course leaves very little downtime.

The benefits of week-long intensive courses of instruction and training the military CQC way provide exponents with blocks of intensive training covering extensive skill sets that not only increase their competency and capabilities but also are best for skills retention.
The recent HQ conducted phase 2 advanced course combined all the unarmed offensive and counteroffensive assault skills from the Phase 1 Basic training packages combined with the Phase 2 Advanced ground combat, battlefield decentralisation, enemy incapacitation by strangulation and choking as well as immobilising by targeting limbs.
A considerable focus initially was placed on decentralisation and hard boots footing recovery combined with counter engagement as well as enemy threat prevention skills to combat or counter enemy fighting arts techniques.
The emphasis is on tactics and skills that will incapacitate even the most formidable foes by hard boots, hard hands, fingers and thumbs targeting of soft sensitive targets that interfere with delicate human senses and life-support systems and capabilities to maintain or recover footing or escape.
The detainnee handling training was extensive covering all aspects of control and restraint decentralisation extraction and come along’s as well as mechanical restraints applications.
The self-defence modules have a major focus on multiple aggressor’s and assaulters threat neutralisation including both unarmed and armed assaulters.
Like with many of the Phase 1 Basic skill sets that require hand eye boot coordination, like with ambush phase disarming of weapons, the same line of principles and practices apply to skill sets like coming to the aid of a victim at weapon point and in tactical control restraint transitions.
Combating and countering of enemy fighting techniques is included majorly on phase 2 advanced course of instruction in regard to combating and countering grappling and wrestling techniques applications and escaping grabs and holds by means of incapacitation skills.
The Todd Group consists of wide ranging close combat and military self-defence schools of instruction including our combat sports school on the second floor of Todd Group HQ and on this course we took advantage of the combat sports School head coach Caleb Steven by introducing exponents to Greco-Roman and freestyle wrestling training.
This is to provide identification of such techniques applications for preventative threat neutralisation purposes and also to when compromised escape holds grabs and submissions by forcing releases through contacting soft sensitive targets.
Combating traditional and competitive styles and codes techniques has always been a big part of our CQC and military self-defence training.
With the upcoming global release of our TSB45 tactical safety baton, there has been considerable training of our rank-and-file in its usage including train the trainers to be ready and prepared for providing such training to services and departments globally.
The TSB45 is a two hand grip expandable and rotational device that maximises users safety especially in countering both unarmed and armed non-ballistic weapon assaults.
It is a one-of-a-kind device that has complete support strategies and contingencies including an unarmed training package and attendees on the HQ Phase 2 Advanced course enjoyed the opportunity to be put through TSB45 introductory training.
Todd Group HQ being not only a training provision facility but also housing our research and development wing provides unique exposure to the most current primary practices as well as training equipment and weapons and devices.
The course instruction was undertaken by two of our Todd Group HQ Master instructors.
There were eight exponents on course and two exponents that had the mandatory 400 hours training completed volunteered for Phase 2 Advanced testing.
The testing is demanding both physically but more importantly in regard to proving the individual candidates know all skills by title and by correct initiation and execution.
It is four plus hours of constant close proximity assessment and rating of tactics and skills employments.
Failing to achieve the objectives on any skill sets module equates to the individual candidates testing phase being over.
It also is about humility and self-respect accepting failure and being able to partake in the testing phase as enemy party for other candidates.
The two candidates that volunteered for testing both showed they were willing able and ready partaking in the Phase 2 Advanced testing with fitting attitudes and skills capabilities.
On this occasion one candidate passed and the other in the final stages of testing failed to achieve the objectives.
The candidate that passed was a female that during the week long intensive course showed commitment to doing her very best and always striving to achieve objectives even though she was considerably smaller than most of her male counterparts exponents on the course.
Another successful course completed and just one more to conduct before the end of the 2026 training year, this one being a Phase 3 Specialist course at our international hub country of Thailand.
The first intensive course for 2027 will be the centennial Phase 1 Basic course at Camp Todd for current and former members of all ranks as well as non-member accepted applicants and already this course has attracted a large muster of exponents, proponents and instructors.
This will be a unique and special course with it being our one hundredth years anniversary of being training providers of our European military armed and unarmed combat and military self-defence training and will have all instructors training with and instructing exponents on course.
