South Africa CQC 2015

Phase 3 Training.

The Todd Group’s annual close quarters combat course was conducted out of the SWAT range facility Centurion.

The course ran for nine days providing training in phase 1 basic, phase 2 advanced and phase 3 specialist packages of the Todd systems of military CQC.

Phase 3 Disarming Seated.

Phase 3 alternate threat neutralization training.

Instruction was delivered by me and two of my phase three assistant instructors.

The course included two full days of shooting and one of night shooting instructed by Leo Prinsloo head instructor of “The Edge” Survival, Tactical & Defensive Shooting Training.

Shooting Coaching.

The phase 1 course was introduced to the Brain to Boot CQC mental toughness program including the practical training exercises for mental and physical combative skills execution enhancement.

There was one successful phase 1 candidate on the 2015 phase 1 test and one very willing young lad.

We had several very committed female exponents on course who applied themselves well to their pursuit of self-improvement in combative competency achievement.

This year’s courses had three medical doctors something that we have not seen on courses for some years now.

The reactions to constant gunfire from various ranges all around the CQC training areas from those not used to it soon disappeared as the days went on.

The SWAT facility has 24 ranges including varied pistol ranges, a shooting house, tunnels and obstacles and rifle firing ranges including 100, 200 and 300 metre ranges.

The Todd Group’s military skills are constantly monitored to ensure they are current and proven and over the past several years the complete doctrine has had all subjects given complete assessment evaluation and where necessary individual skills have been made obsolete redundant or modified to ensure they are the best means of specific objective achievement. Proponents on this course of instruction were exposed to the most current and proven Todd Systems tactics and skills.

The two-part unarmed offensive assault leg stamp and the full body loaded maximum enforcement tactical control and restraint skills were two of the most current skill sets that exponents conveyed provided even greater increased capabilities.

C&R

Phase 1 stamp kick practice.

Phase 2 Crowd Fighting skill detailing.

The phase 2 course of instruction worked diligently at getting up their training hours and as such their pursuit of required proficiency in all their advanced combative skill sets training.

Phase 2 Crowd Fighting against Armed and Unarmed assailants.

The phase 1 course of instruction had to deal with the effects of constant putdowns and having to regain their footing when fatigued.

They adapted well to the drills commands and by the end of the course the proficiency in technique to command had increased by considerable.

Phase 1 Technique to Command Drill.

The Todd Group intensive courses of instruction attract only those that are willing and committed to the pursuit of military CQC achievement and advancement.

These individuals that are not afraid to accept the combative challenge of undertaking the intensive and extensive training courses include some that volunteer for the most revealing phase 1 test.

Others through the self-revealing nature of the training self-identify their weaknesses and short comings. Some come back on future courses and others look for styles that provide easier options.

Either way the training and testing systems prove their worth with identifying the committed realist exponents and qualifying candidates that accept the challenges and surpass the required skills competency levels.

Some apply or inquire with no intention of fronting up and others that instruct other styles do not step forward for testing as the reality is blatantly obvious both in the testing requirements and their intestinal fortitude and confidence in their physical skills competency.

Those that front up step up and volunteer to under phase 1 basic CQC testing are people that do not want softer easy options and are not just paper hounds.

They want to learn the tactics and skills the military learn in CQC and realise to achieve there must be personal sacrifice and there is a high level of mental toughness and intestinal fortitude required from them. They must self-motivate and external encouragement is not permitted and is frowned upon as the individual combatant must be self-motivated in regards to mental toughness and must make the D in regards to tactics and skills never wanting or requiring outside skills selection advice under testing.

The only voices the candidate needs is their minds eye silent orders and instructions and the testing instructors commands.

If it was easy everyone would be doing it of all ages physical capabilities and levels of mental toughness and this simply is not the reality.

The proponents must be a realist by nature strong minded willing and able or they simply will not be able to endure the training control their required mental requirements and will certainly fail to achieve the required objectives under testing.

The Todd Group proves one exponent at a time and its ranks are made up of those that have all passed their respective test phases.

We receive a lot of enquiries from individuals in South Africa.

Many of them are well aware of the long association I had with the late Capt Ben Mängels and of some of the committed armed services personnel from South Africa that train in the Todd Systems.

In 2016 a second course of instruction is under negotiation for Cape Town.

The Todd Group will also be expanding its provision of training for anti-poaching wildlife protection personnel in Africa.

On this visit we also presented our latest defensive tactics equipment prototype that received totally positive reviews and requests for orders when this product is released into the law enforcement and military marketplace.

The export of intensive courses of instruction including the required recruiting is time intensive and it takes a dogged determination to establish such training in a new country.

The Todd Group has effectively now trained and phase 1 qualified a number of committed proponents in South Africa and has country a member’s roll that is increasing every year from throughout Africa.

We set our courses dates up to 12 months out giving applicants plenty of opportunity to advance planning for taking leave so as to be able to attend upcoming courses.

The Todd Group has wide ranging specialist packages that it can deliver on exported courses of instruction including our medical tactical packages for paramedics, doctors, nurses and health professionals.

This package includes skills for the emergency room, paramedics, mental health and pediatrics. Safe and effective tactics and skills combined with high level subject care and staff safety in difficult situations where specialist methods of subject handling to reduce risk and injury are required.

We have presented our D-WAR (declare war against rape) anti and counter serious sexual violence packages on previous courses in South Africa and intend to offer the full course on future courses.

The Todd Group has a commitment to its committed African proponents and will be working towards increasing our recruiting in Africa over the next 24 months.

I would like to thank Steffan and Jonathan for their instructing service on course and Leo for hosting the course at his CQC training fitting and excellent facility.

The Todd Group provide not only the most current military CQC and military self-defence but also instruct the military way hands on and where politically correct matters little. So if you are up for the best of CQC training and some character adjustments and good old bastardisation when and if needed and deserved then apply for an upcoming course and join in the specialist training provided by the oldest private global training provider of European CQC and enjoy the positive outcomes and camaraderie. www.toddgroup.com inquiries [email protected]
