The November 28th-29th was the final phase 1 basic and phase 2 advanced exponents’ short courses training at camp Todd for the year.
The short courses included both a phase 2 advanced and phase 1 basic testing phase.
There was also instructor and assistant instructor continuation training undertaken.
Conducting short and longer duration courses at Camp Todd, a CQC designated training camp, enables civilian enthusiasts to live armed and unarmed combat and military self defence the military tradecraft way.
Instruction being controlled and delivered by European military master instructors ensures the highest tradecraft standards are maintained and the best chances of objective achievement are achieved.
There are no separate gender categories training or age or weight divisions and as such candidates on testing phases must prove themselves against formidable enemy party.
This is important for the development of confidence skills competency and capability to neutralise formidable threats and foes.
Achieving objectives without best of battle proven dirty tricks brigade tactics and skills would be considerably less likely for the underdog.
The phase 2 advanced short course of instruction enabled two full days of continuous training and for two candidates to prove themselves under the arduous testing regime.
These two solid exponents had completed the mandatory 400+ hours of training enabling them to volunteer for phase 2 advanced testing.
Their objective achievement under testing was testament to their commitment and dedication to combative self-improvement.
They earned the right to promotion and entry into phase 3 specialist proponent training.

The phase 1 course of instruction with the mandatory requirement of 100 hours completed before volunteering for phase 1 testing produced high level skills competency. The two candidates were both female and proved themselves not only in relation to skills but also their inner resolve under duress in pursuit of achieving their phase 1 basic testing passes.
They not only had to prove themselves against their fellow candidates but also against enemy party consisting of phase 2 exponents and phase 3 proponents that were considerably more experienced and some considerably bigger and stronger than them.
For the practical realist Todd Group testing phases are what proving yourself and the effectiveness of the capabilities of the instructed skills is all about.
The underdog status brings out the best in the candidates if they are mentally tough, highly skilled and committed to winning and not merely surviving.
Anything less than such testing would not best prepare candidates for the reality of real life violence threat neutralisation.
These two female candidates prove themselves and earned the right to promotion to phase 2 advanced training and joining the FUGs select group of the Todd Group (female unarmed combat guns).
These were the final phase 1 and phase 2 tests for 2020 and we are looking forward to 2021 and conducting more courses including more NZ wide short courses and resuming our international exported course of instruction when the travel and border conditions are favourable. The last course before the holiday break will be a phase 3 specialist’s short course.
