Auckland Annual Todd Group CQC Course 2016

Getting back from the courses in Europe and Southeast Asia meant a quick turnaround and heading for Auckland to conduct the annual Auckland phase 1 basic and phase 2 advanced CQC courses of instruction.

The course was conducted at Ludus Magnus physical training facility Auckland Central. Ludus Magnus, formerly Spec Force is a massive training facility owned by Joe Naufahu. Joe, his mum and dad, and the staff at Ludus Magnus are very supportive with the conducting of our weekly evening training instructed by John Adlington and our annual week-long intensive course of instruction.

Ludus Magnus in ancient times was the biggest gladiator school in Rome where combatants trained in wide ranging armed and unarmed combat including on foot, horseback and from chariots. Such training required a massive space and Ludus Magnus being the biggest of them all was known as the great gladiatorial training School for combatants. This fits well with the Todd Group being the oldest training providers of European military close quarters combat and the only training provider of our kind in New Zealand.

Soon, Ludus Magnus will move to a new location just around the corner from their current Karaka Street facility. The new address will be 133-135 Newton Road.

If you’re looking for a friendly positive place to train and top physical training, I recommend you contact Joe and the team at Ludus magnus. [email protected] https://www.ludusmagnus.co.nz

Todd Group Auckland weekly training will be conducted at Ludus Magnus and anyone interested in training in the most current proven Todd Systems of military self- defence and military unarmed combat should contact John Adlington. [email protected]

Military unarmed combat is about as dirty and deadly as it gets with an ethos of quick quiet as safe as humanly possible threat neutralisation.

The type of training and the type of people that prove themselves on such qualification courses as the annual Auckland week-long intensive course and test phase are what make these intensive extensive courses so special and unique. Attendees get to work at CQC the military way.

This course as with all Todd Group conducted courses is more about mental toughness than just physical combative skills.

The primary physical skills being the Todd Systems best of battle proven methods of maximising one’s chances of victory over defeat are simple gross motor skills capabilities of threat neutralisation. They provide the best capabilities to neutralise formidable foes. So it very much comes down to the individuals toughness of mind and enhanced mental toughness to have the inner resolve and intestinal fortitude to achieve the best means of battle proven threat neutralisation.

The course consisted of two training groups undergoing training simultaneously.

The phase 1 basic course where the exponents learnt all the fundamentals and foundations of military self- defence and military unarmed combat worked their way through the phase 1 package as the week went on.

On Course Drills Training to Command.

Their course of instruction was taught in order of effectiveness and likely requirements in relation to common threats they may face.

Unarmed offensive assault, unarmed counter offensive assault, seizure prevention, seizure escapes, short edged weapon disarming under unpredictable incoming entry assault, ambushed at weapon point edged weapon disarming, long weapon including bludgeon and edged weapon disarming under incoming entry assault and ambushed bludgeon weapon disarming were all instructed to the phase 1 group on course.

They underwent the brain to boot mental toughness/psychological enhancement introduction and audio drills exercises along with a brief on the medical aspects of military close quarters combat.

The days as on all intensive courses of instruction went very quickly and were made up of drills to command, lectures and presentations, learning tactics and skills, deciding on the best skills in relation to the individual exponents mental and physical make-up and practising the skills under different training methods to increase competency and proficiency.

The phase 2 group worked on the phase 2 advanced package which included ground combat, battlefield choking and strangulation, combating multiple armed and unarmed aggressors, battlefield takedowns to neutralise the enemy by decentralisation, advanced self- defence, primary defensive tactics control and restraint skills and specialist situational detainee handling skills.

The full phase 2 course included some proponents that have racked up close to the 400 hours required to phase 2 test as well as others that have just recently qualified to start phase 2 training.

The courses attracting serious civilian military and police proponents provides a hive of individuals working as a tight group striving for CQC self-improvement.

Both groups combining for drills toughener and sickener training enables everyone to maintain or improve their hardcover capabilities keeping their skills honed.

CQC MILLING HANDS TIED UNDER ASSAULT

The phase 1 testing is something that makes the Todd Group courses the special and unique experience they are.

Undertaken after a full intensive course of instruction or a minimum of 100 hours the phase 1 tests really identify and prove those that have the intestinal fortitude and skills competency and those that don’t.

Those that are put off by having to train and test the military combative way and as a result are so fearful of being exposed and failure that they simply cannot find the courage to join the course deep down know the truth about themselves, even though they do not outwardly admit it.

Those that do volunteer and accept the challenge and are prepared to undergo and endure the training and rise above the testing requirements come in all shapes and sizes both genders and will CQC achieve.

Those that settle for soft options are not best preparing themselves to deal with a formidable foe.

The entire process from application to course joining fronting up and accepting orders and instructions shows individuals have the desire and will to self-improve.

Under training and testing where it is as close as it gets and there is nowhere to hide exponents are constantly facing reality checks of their mental toughness and combative skills capabilities.

Anything less would not be best preparing them for the realities of real life actions on encounters against dangerous violent aggressors.

It is not for everyone but it is for those that have done their research have the smarts and are looking to be trained in the most current primary CQC tactics and skills as taught to the military elite.

Attendees soon realise the truth in the old adage never judge a book by its cover and some of the quiet grey insignificant types that do not look like they would be a danger actually prove to be difficult to deal with under training and testing conditions.

The skills provide the capability but the exponent must have the mental toughness and intestinal fortitude to employ the skills under actions on conditions.

So the day seven phase 1 test brought to an end excellent combined phase 1 and 2 courses of instruction.

BATTLE HANDLING ON PHASE 1 BASIC TESTING. LIVE BLADE DISARMING.

I’d like to thank Joe his family and staff at Ludus Magnus for facilitating the annual Auckland course and John Adlington for managing and coordinating a well-run course.

It’s back to Todd Group HQ to undertake the final HQ intake for 2016 along with contract provision program writing, working on CQC projects and products soon to be manufactured and recruiting and undertaking admin duties for upcoming exported course of instruction.
