The On Your Todd is a simple small Device that provides several self protection and defensive tactics capabilities. Injection moulded from composite materials, it is tough, but light weight. It is a good key chain that can hook onto your trouser waist band or your belt with your keys in your pocket.
It can be used as a flail with X configurations cross face swinging actions. It fits across the base of your small finger with the hook outward and the shaft in the palm of your hand. Your fist can be clenched around the shaft and the round of the hook used for striking.
The striking can be hammer-like outward backhand or diagonal forehand as well as uppercut. Using the hammer hitting option means you not only have the impact of your hammer fist but also the rounded narrow edge of the hook that provides inanimate object hardened manufactured material narrow line blunt force trauma.
The On Your Todd can also be held like the old matchbox trick of yesteryear for striking by unexpected under or outside the peripheral vision to the chin or under side of the jaws edge. It is also an effective tool for escaping some holds where the end of the hook or the end of the shaft can be used to target soft delicate body parts.
For defensive tactics it can be used for running over the clothing in searching to detect objects. It is an excellent simple low physical out put required means of controlling and containing suspects. By encapsulating the thumb or a finger in the hook locking it in the inner hooks end by wrapping your hand around the outer hook below the secured digit the digit can be hyper-extended including with rotation completing a finger or thumb bar that is painful by applying minimal leverage. The mind follows pain and, as such, compliance can easily be achieved.
All this in a simple wee device did take some thought and development to get it to fit most hands and be multipurpose. The On Your Todd has been described as resembling a Maori traditional fish hook Matua but it’s name came from Cockney slang for on your own Todd Sloane “On Your Todd”
