To meet small group training requirements establishment of a standalone private training facility was deemed necessary to ensure there could be no interference or interruption with courses of instruction for visiting exponents, proponents and instructors with set training durations.

Having a standalone sole purpose facility to complement our satellite training facilities utilised for specialist courses training has truly increased our scope and efficiency of training provision.

Having multiple facilities for large course conduction available and our usage connections well established over several decades is necessary for our major courses but in the post Covid environment and even before being able to conduct small courses including individual tuition training courses is a very real requirement that we are geared up for and have been providing for some time.

The recent phase 1 basic and phase 2 advanced courses conducted at our new Todd Group Thailand Chonburi training location ran like clockwork and provided a fitting environment.

Transport to and from the new facility location was much less travel time than other facilities which was much appreciated by attendees on this summer course, especially at the end of a hard, hot day of training.

The courses group stay accommodation situated centrally with shopping centres, restaurants and markets all around provided the opportunity for attendees to get some evening shopping in and experience some fine Thai cuisine.

The full phase 1 basic and phase 2 advanced primary skills training packages were delivered over the six days including an introduction to amphibious mil self-defence and close quarters combat on day six.

For specific generic training like defensive tactics, control and restraint and drill skills to command the Phase 1 and 2 exponents trained together.

The new training setting situated under a canopy of tropical fruit trees bearing many fruits like mangoes, mangosteen, Thai peach, banana, pomelo, santol ball, star apple and jackfruit was very different to attendees home training environments.

It was quite the tropical setting fit for CQC training purpose under the Thai hot summer sun.

Temperatures reaching in the 40s’s meant the course had to acclimatize to such high temperatures and humidity quickly.

The course management provided all the requirements including lunch and plenty of chilled fresh water.

The tree canopy and the shade/shelter erected for the course to provide some sun protection during the heat of the day did the job.

There was not the sea breeze of some of our other facilities so the best shaded areas of the 100 rei at our disposal were carefully selected.

The grassed areas and partly demolished structure provided concealment for BHEs and scenario training.

Having all our trade craft training required equipment stored in country and the required kit delivered for all training needs along with our in-country host facilitators and staff there to take care of our needs made for a seamless training experience.

phase 2 advanced training was conducted separately from phase one and included all modules from the Phase 2 package.

Our courses attracting operators, former operators and enthusiasts from wide ranging countries all looking for genuine European mil close quarters combat and self-defence conducted in a private specialist training facility under the control of the Todd Group CQC qualified Master-Chief Instructor makes this our new primary training location ideal for such specialist small group training.

It is not the art or sport our dedicated people join up for, it is the combat and knowing they are being trained by a mil elite Master Instructor and join the ranks of the oldest private specialist European mil elite CQC and MSD trade craft training providers.

Day seven was continuation training for an exponent on course from Europe and took the form of battle fitness training.

This urban battle fitness training included high repetition skills executions on steep gradients consisting of stairways and pathways surrounded by jungle environment.

This was over three hours of continuous physical exertion in temperatures exceeding 30 degrees and testament to the individual exponents accepting of the competency enhancement challenge.

Such training is important to serious enthusiasts as it is self-revealing and enables the establishment of a strong foundation to build upon as their training progresses.

They are put under pressure checking and broken down to bare physicality and mental toughness primary requirements that will then through ongoing training facilitate building up a structure of primary skills competency and increases intestinal fortitude in the employment of their threat neutralisation strategies.

The course encourages camaraderie and closeness enjoying everyone’s company in available down time and moving as a group and supporting one not only in training but also out of training away on courses.

The lads and lasses on course got along well and all had good senses of humour and were definitely not of the woke sensitive disposition types.

Immediately post courses the advance work for the upcoming NZ/Thailand dual country close personal protection course and the Thailand phase 3 specialists close combat course has commenced.

The suitability including favourable logistics of our new Todd Group stand-alone training facility in Thailand proved to tick all boxes and enable us to provide serious enthusiasts of true military elite self-defence and close combat with a unique and special training experience with all needs and requirements factored in.

They got to live military close combat for a week of intensive training along with experiencing the culture and cuisine of the Kingdom of Thailand.

Our longest history as private specialist training providers in our European mil elite self-defence and close combat to small groups including individual tuition training at most reasonable course fees rates, has been brought about by our decades of course conducting and our connections and assistance from our hosts facilitators and in country staff.

Many attendees are recruited by referral just like on this most recent course where one of our South African members referred an exponent from Germany.

We recruit, train, test and prove serious dedicated and committed exponents one at a time and are most fortunate to have HQ and national and international depots exponents, proponents and instructors attending our Thailand international hub country exported courses of instruction.
