Titles mean little in self defence without primary proven capabilities, expertise, and intestinal fortitude

I have met tens of thousands of martial artists and fighters through my ownership of fight Times Magazine, and the former Australasian martial arts magazine and New Zealand martial arts magazine.

I have personally attended many demonstrations as a guest and watched many highly graded individuals performing what they proclaimed to be practical self defence.

Many simply have no idea of what is required to defeat a formidable aggressor in a Street fight with no rules or safeguards.

I have taken workshops and given seminars to thousands of martial artists with the majority of them being black belts and their knowledge of how to deal with serious violence has often been very limited.

The basic level military combative courses of instruction conducted over a week and strictly tested provide candidates at above an enabling level with primary gross unarmed offensive assault skills to neutralise formidable threats as well as unarmed counter offensive assault skills to do achieve the same.

They know how to prevent seizure and if compromised how to use armed and unarmed options to escape and threat neutralise.

They know how to fight with a knife offensively counter offensively as well as using improvised weapons and how to disarm disable and dispose of foes armed with edged and bludgeon type weapon’s. This includes an incoming assault and at weapon point in ambush threat situations.

They know primary detainee handling skills in relation to prisoner taking prisoner decentralisation and prisoner extraction and restraint mobility methods.

They know how to disarm pistols and assault rifles at point-blank range from the front side and behind. They know ground combat primary practices armed and unarmed and more.

Importantly their basic level military self defence and military combative knowledge is all current primary battle proven practices that have no respect for the enemy’s capabilities and are based on controlled aggressive ruthless overkill options.

These capabilities are provided initially in a one-week intensive course of instruction concluding with a mandatory testing phase.

Many of these basic level proponents have considerably more knowledge than the highly ranked so-called masters I have seen trying to impress with self-defence techniques that are suicidal when up against a violent aggressor.
