Those low on integrity and intestinal fortitude that are prepared to mislead, take liberties and disrespect the proven real deals often end up getting some adverse attention. Some refer to these types as rats, like cowards that would shoot you in the back in the dark of night or garbage talkers and back stabbers light on real world experience. These unproven types are not renowned for facing their foes. They often assume a tough guy persona by making up stories about themselves having had street fights when there is no knowledge or proof of any actions had with any formidable foes.
The late UK unlicensed fighter “The Governor” Lenny McLean was once shot in the back by as he put it, two rats on a motor bike that did not get to tell anyone and get a reputation because they were too afraid of what he would do to them if he found out who they were.

Through arrogance or stupidity some wannabes self-proclaimed top dogs foolishly don’t consider outcomes of their selfish disrespectful behaviour, causing rage in those living by a very different code to themselves. A code where only those that have proven themselves should make claims of expertise and hands on earned capability. When the real deals take exception to false claims, disrespect, and liberty taking, they may well go on the war path against those who offend or disrespect them or disrespect those they respect and hold in high regard. Fake claims and disrespectful behaviour can lead to tough nuts getting a bee in their bonnet about such wannabes and they won’t rest until they have sorted it out.
Often the truth of why such individuals are now outsiders will come out and even those that gave them the benefit of the doubt will look upon them very differently. That is the realities of the public arena when a wannabe self-proclaimed make believe artist brings attention to themselves.
It’s very much a case of black and white with no grey area when liberties are taken and codes of conduct broken.
You would think wannabes would think carefully before rattling the cages of big lumps that they have previously rubbed shoulders with that are handy and that don’t take kindly to rats. It is not uncommon for likely lads to turn up and challenge those putting themselves up and out there as tough guys with real fight experience when they are not. Some challengers may have prior connections with the self-proclaimed Jack the lad, now an outsider or others just know the rat is spreading propaganda and is a phoney.
Some challengers do this to make a reputation for themselves either because the person in question has a proven track record as a tough nut and they want to prove that they are handy or because the individual has got off side with them. Others want to right a wrong of a wannabe make believe artist trying to gain a reputation without doing the business for real.
The latter are usually known for their lack of real life actions on and are disliked for their false claims because it is known they are not hard and have not earned a hands and boots on reputation. Some have been confronted and frozen with fear but still stupidly make false claims of a prior actions on or a top dog status.
It is deceitful to mislead by fabricated information to those seeking someone experienced to undertake training from, and the real deals that know the facts about such wannabes can take serious exception to such liberty taking.
Such challenges of instructors and fighters as well as bouncers have always been the way of sorting differences out in the concrete jungle when fighters have an axe to grind.
I have personally had challengers turn up and take me on in front of my training exponents or take a less immediate route by sending me challenges over my forty plus years. It comes with the territory and I just had to be dealt with them; the outcomes proved a point and had positive effects on those privy to the actions on.
One such tough, hard, quietly confident man with a lot of real life fight actions on experience thought nothing of visiting such a wannabee rat posing as a tough guy top dog.
He joined in the training with those in attendance, and called him up on every untruth spoken and then called him out, exposing him for the weak wannabe he was in front of his followers, making him tremble in his boots and giving him a real man reality check. He said he went from trying to act like a big small man to looking like a terrified man child shaking in his boots.
He went outside with him where he backed down in a heartbeat and started trying to talk his way out of trouble. He soon found out his mouth was making things worse for him and there was no way to save face without getting it rearranged. He done a heartlidge as it is put when someone is too afraid to back up, a cartilage went in his heart. That was the end of it for him and nothing more has been heard, he must be in hiding.
Some with no intestinal fortitude stupidly make the mistake of offending those that are the real deals in a fraternity where living by a code of an eye for an eye, and proving yourself the manly way by hands and boots is what matters most. This code is as old and proven as it gets when it comes to settling scores and proving points. There are no rules or out options when someone calls you out intending to clean your clock.
There are so many combat sports and street fighters out there willing to prove a point by sorting wannabes out. Many combat sports fighters would have no problems beating the living daylights out of such self-proclaimed top dogs.
As the old saying goes, shitting or in this case bull shitting in one’s own back yard, where the wannabes true lack of real life experience is known, or nothing is known about the wannabe tough guy because they had never done anything to earn a reputation, is going to get them the chance to prove just how tough and handy they are for real, when someone takes exception and goes after them.
When someone puts themselves out there as something they are not, disrespecting and offending others , they better be able to back up or they will be found out and looking over their shoulder all the time.
It very much comes down to individuals and the codes they live by as to effects and outcomes.
