Loyalty Without Honour

Recently, at the 90th Anniversary Reunion of the Todd Group, my close friend and VIP guest Larry Jordan, a retired US S/F SMG and chief hand-to-hand combat instructor discussed how loyalty must come hand-in-hand with honour.

Loyalty without honour clearly shows a lack of integrity.

It cannot be that individuals do not understand that military CQC training is a privilege and not a right and that training and membership requires exemplary conduct, high level integrity, loyalty and honour, as it is blatantly obvious in the joining instructions.

Secrets, hidden agendas, dubious motives or abuse of position or status are all undesirable traits that clearly identify individuals that are not fit to be part of a CQC training group.

Loyalty must include honour and integrity and individuals that are not honourable and of high integrity cannot claim they respect their superiors and their training group.

Proponents must respect their training group, superiors, and fellow proponents.

They must never in their training or personal life bring the group into disrepute by their actions or associations.

They must be selfless and not selfish and respect the chain of command, code of conduct, rules regulations and the training ethos of being a CQC training exponent or instructor.

Proponents that are confident in themselves and their capabilities do not have to prove anything by trying to impress or intimidate the rank and file or outsiders.

Highly committed proponents are respected for their good character selflessness and total commitment to CQC their training group and the training group rank-and-file as well as all CQC allies.

Honourable proponents are security conscious quietly confident individuals that lead by example and are respected for their actions and achievements.

When they speak it is factual and they do not deliberately or indirectly through innuendo mislead others.

They are not under the delusion of thoughts of grandeur status or position that are not true and fact.

They must be able to be trusted to be responsible and respectful in their training and instructing duties.

Their conduct at all times must be exemplary as the integrity of the group must never be brought into disrepute by their actions.

They must understand that dishonourable actions can have terminal outcomes and a single dishonourable action may well be their last connection with their CQC training group.

Individuals that conduct themselves without honour and integrity may well be able to fool or impress the impressionable but sooner or later their actions will come to the intention of this superiors they will get found out by their superiors and their actions will seal their fate.
