The physical fitness requirements using Todd systems military CQC/MSD to defeat a physically fitter or bigger fitter aggressor are more a combination of mental toughness, the best of CQC/MSD (close quarters combat/military self-defence skills) and controlled/conserved physical fitness capabilities output, will be outlined in this edition of CQC Tips.

Those with the smarts know to never judge a book by its cover or think that small or overweight means incapable of ruthless aggression.

The smart combatant will use their strengths and exploit their enemy’s weakness as in the above testing phase pic.

While being as physically fit and strong as possible is excellent for health sport and general life Todd Systems military close quarters combat and military self-defence skills are less reliant on extreme physical attributes and capabilities.

The reasons include there are no weight divisions, gender categories, rules, safety gear, and your aggressor is most likely trying to cause you serious harm.

You don’t need to be able to do chin ups to spike an aggressor’s eyes or employ other CQC/MSD dirty or, for military roles, deadly skills that will stop an aggressor.

The most important attributes in Todd Systems military close quarters combat and military self-defence are mental toughness, intestinal fortitude, and inner resolve.

These attributes empower and enable an individual to incapacitate or on the battlefield in kill or die actions on encounters eliminate a formidable enemy by the best of dirty and deadly means and methods.

Let’s face facts. If you are the underdog up against a violent aggressor and the best of military battle proven dirty tricks brigade skills won’t stop them in him in his tracks, do you think skills that require considerably more physicality and that are more complex will get the job done.

Todd Systems military self-defence and military close quarters combat provides the best chances of stopping an aggressor in their tracks even for the underdog including those that are not fighting fit.

The primary means and methods are not even allowed in “no holds barred” fighting, as they are foul, dirty or deadly means of man stopping that when employed will incapacitate or eliminate a physically fitter skilled aggressor.

That is why you are not permitted to use finger snapping, eye gouging, nose biting, scrotum squeezing, or head stomping under the rules in any official combat sports or even in “no holds barred” fights, but in life or death assaults, these may be what enables the victim underdog to win and not just survive.

You are best at what your primary practices are and you want to practice your primary skills until they are honed and you can execute them without error and within your physical capabilities for periods that would exceed probable maximum actions on time frames under specific threats.

You need to train by the military combative or military self-defence modus operandi if you are training for the battlefield or for your self-protection against violent assault as there is no such thing as sporting or traditional mugging robbing raping violent criminal assault or murder.

Never take a fighter on at their own game, but always stop them by the best of battle proven means that must enable and arm even the extreme underdog with their best chances of stopping a formidable foe.

Understand that civilian self-defence styles comprising of wide ranging combat sports or fighting arts individual techniques will not make you as skilled and capable as a dedicated fighter in a specific code or style that has put in thousands of hours training in the techniques of their code or style and that has extensive competitive fight experience.

It is very important that reality and self-honesty is the means of determination of one’s physical, mental, self-protection and combative capabilities.

The skills in Todd systems European military CQC require considerably less physical fitness and physical output than competitive or traditional fighting arts techniques.

The reasoning is because they are simple gross motor skill capabilities used to target delicate human anatomy life-support targets or by destroying the integrity of skeletal joints, bones, ligaments and tendons.

In lethal military enemy combative takeout’s for life or death actions on battlefield encounters the spinal cord destruction is also a primary target.

The C in close quarters combat as in close to point blank bodily contact range is a very important fundamental of achieving fast threat neutralisation.

At point-blank bodily contact range the combatant has the reach to contact targets that will neutralise even a formidable foe by dirty and deadly armed or unarmed relentless targeting contact. Point blank bodily contact range provides increased self- protection safety by making your enemy wear your weight as well as using their mass as cover and restricting their strike capability by jamming their extremities.

The battle hard ready and willing must hard cover guard themselves to reduce risk to the lowest possible level to enable them to minimise contact and the effects of contact and neutralise formidable foes under actions on assault.

Todd Systems tactics are all about minimising required risks and physicality needs in threat neutralisation.

Hard cover guarding over blocking is a primary trade craft practice to minimise unprotected exposed quadrants. Another negative to be prevented is reaching out offering limbs for seizing or slashing causing unnecessary defensive wounds and as such reduced capability.

No rushing in and increasing impact counter contact collision forces if picked off by a capable formidable foe set ready and awaiting your charge.

Economy of controlled physical output action initiated and executed by low intensity controlled cycled respiration and a maximum of three quarters capacity physical output.

Military CQC primary kill zone and point-blank bodily contact range primary options include the use of service carried or improvised weapons as well as unarmed combat skills.

Armed options provide not only effective silent and expedient threat neutralisation but also increase combative confidence.

Unarmed skills require less physical capabilities than combat sports or traditional arts techniques applications as they are dirty or deadly and destructive.

A deliberate well placed stamp kick to destroy the integrity of the knee joint, knee cap and related ligaments is a gross motor skill employed to produce high level destructive achievement capability and enemy incapacitation outcomes.

Targeting the eyes with tactically correct CQC methods of spiking and gouging the eyes repeatedly until vision is impaired will enable escape and evasion or unrestricted targeting of additional human anatomy targets to neutralise even a formidable foe.

The required levels of force to interfere with vision, destroy the integrity of the knee joint/knee cap, destroy the airway or sever the spinal cord by European battlefield military close quarter combat means for the battlefield are well within a human beings with average physical range of destructive output providing they are mentally tough and tactically hard target themselves.

What is a must in the set up and execution of such skills is hard cover guarding self- protection capabilities, dirty or deceptive set up and employment tactics and most importantly sound mental toughness and the most proven destructive military combative skills capabilities to achieve the desired objective.

Even a combatant of low level physical capabilities can generate five times the required destructive velocity by means of a stamp kick to destroy the integrity of the knee cap/knee joint ligaments of a much larger foe.

The required force to impair vision or destroy the airway is minimal but the means and methods are what make the chances of objective achievement more definite than just possible.

Over more than 40 years I have been involved with training tens of thousands of CQC/MSD exponent’s and proponents I have seen individuals not in the best physical condition and shape achieve their objectives against candidates of considerably greater physical attributes and physical capabilities.

They have done this by more mental toughness than physical capabilities and by being skilled in the best means and methods of formidable aggressor neutralisation combined with controlling and conserving their physical output.

I have seen civilian and military candidates in peak physical condition from different countries and of different fighting arts and combat sports based styles on numerous courses under testing, defeated by candidates of lower level physical fitness capabilities by means of the employment of the best of military CQC dirty tactics and skills empowered by a confident ruthless mental toughness attitude.

If the best of battle proven military close quarters combat skills did not provide the capability to neutralise enemies of superior physical attributes and capabilities, then only the biggest, strongest and fittest would have the best chance of defeating a physically superior foe at close quarters.

This would also mean that those that were injured or wounded would have little or no chance of defeating a physically superior enemy.

Obviously the physically fitter and stronger the combatant, the better, however all the training in the world and all the physical fitness capabilities amount to little if the individual does not have the mental toughness intestinal fortitude and inner resolve to overcome the effects of fear and do what must be done to win not merely survive.

You only have to observe the outcomes of foul actions or accidental contact in sports where the players eyes airway cervical spine or genitals are contacted/impacted and how immediate the effects are and if you times that by ten with deliberate destructive combative threat neutralisation, you will get a better understanding of how the underdog or someone not in great physical shape and condition can stop a superior more physically capable aggressor.

The nature of true European military CQC training testing and in real life actions on encounters can dramatically interfere with mental and physical capabilities of individuals that are not practical realists with the smarts armed with the best threat neutralisation capabilities and that are not mentally prepared to do what needs to be done and endure the realities of close combat contact.

I have trained Olympic sports persons as well as professional sports players including combat sports champions, rugby and rugby league players and under testing phases on CQC courses when pitted against mentally tough realists of considerably lesser physical capabilities that are prepared to and to employ brutally simple best of battle proven methods of objective achievement from the outset can overcome their formidable enemy party physicality advantages. Even the very unfit with the smarts and mental toughness can defeat superior physically capable candidates.

Getting in first and ravaging the enemy never losing momentum being relentless inside ones physical capabilities by means of dirty tricks brigade means and methods requires far less physical fitness than by styles or codes techniques that require high level fighting fitness.

If you know there is no risk of loss of life or limb and you are protected by high level safety rules and regulations overseen by officials conducted in safety matted padded training environments wearing gloves and protectors where the activity is studio like pad training or controlled sparring the fear and stress level is low, unlike the risks and dangers of real life actions on assaults.

There is a huge difference between running physical fitness and military CQC actions on required physical capabilities in the required means methods and practices to achieve the vastly different objectives.

In military dirty and deadly CQC actions on encounters the combatant needs to use controlled low intensity cycled respiration to achieve destructive output and conserve physical output levels in case of prolonged actions on encounters against a formidable foe.

The best means of increasing military combative objective achievement capability applicable to combative physical capabilities is by battle fitness combative skills executions increasing the speed commitment and velocity output and skills repetitions commensurate with increases in physical capability.

CQC actions on movement is predominantly close range to kill zone start and stop expedient action combined with close to point-blank target range destruction of delicate/sensitive human senses and bodily life-support systems.

The nature of the skills and their high level threat neutralisation provided capabilities combined with a never quit mentally tough attitude enables lesser physical fitness requirements.

Always believing your enemy is bigger stronger, fitter, faster, highly skilled and determined to cause you grievous bodily harm will demand the best of battle proven human anatomy destructive threat neutralisation capabilities combined with a never give in or give up committed uncompromising mentality if you want to overcome adversity and defeat a formidable aggressor.

Understanding your physical limits and capabilities and using deliberate definite controlled physical output will maximise your combative capabilities.

Having high level skills and self-belief combined with commitment in the execution of your best of battle proven skills will provide the best and highest chances of neutralising a formidable threat.

Any doubts in your skills capabilities will weaken your resolve, when you most need to stay mentally tough under assault against a dangerous aggressor.

Pads and bags do not have airways genitals spinal cords or eye balls and as such the type of targeting means and contact velocity are very different than that required for military self- defence and military close quarters combat. Those that want to be the best protected and the best combat ready and prepared need to be realists and honest with themselves in regards to their physical and mental capabilities as well as the effectiveness of their techniques. The right tools and the required mind-set along with a realistic understanding of one’s physical capabilities and how to conserve and manage their physical capabilities and by means of the best of battle proven skills will maximise safety and objective achievement.

Range skill controlled aggressive uncompromising ruthless commitment is the best formula to overcome adversity and defeat a formidable foe within your physical capabilities and reserves.

The attributes required for the underdog to defeat a physically superior aggressor are high level mental toughness combined with the most proven threat neutralisation CQC/MSD skills that require the minimum physical capabilities to achieve maximum threat destruction.

The physical output level must be controlled and inside the individuals combative physical fitness levels and reserves to maintain CQC physical capability for prolonged actions on encounters and for escape and evasion.

The primary means and methods of training to deal with sudden aggressive shock actions on violence is by battle handling exercises where the combatant has no prior knowledge of the specific threat and must assess decide and employ the best means of threat neutralisation while maintaining mental toughness and controlled aggressive physical output inside their level of physical capability.

The effects of sudden aggressive shock actions on can diminish physically superior aggressor’s advantages in an instant by the nature of the beast.
