Another completed national locations short course over the weekend of July 11th and 12th.
This course is an annual exported course to Christchurch for current training members, depot instructors and accepted new applicant attendees.
The course included two days of phase 1 Basic CQC and MSD as well as Phase 2 Advanced and Phase 3 Specialist training components along with a D-WAR declare war against rape component.
The course concluded with an introduction to primary tactical control and restraint skills training.
Pictured above two dedicated phase 3 specialist proponents with the Fairbairn Sykes knife that was presented to me for my HQ history room personal collection.
This high quality Fairbairn-Sykes knife was made even more special being presented by a highly regarded long serving soldier and dedicated proponent of military close combat.
This will join treasured knives and other memorabilia in my collection that include other Fairbairn-Sykes knives and Applegate-Fairbairn knives presented to me by my former instructors including my mentor, the late Col Rex Applegate.
My collection is very special indeed not only because of the included rare close combat related weapons and equipment but also because of the personal provenance of some of the most important items in the collection that were presented to me by my former instructors or instructors qualified by leading legendary Master–Chief instructors of times gone by.
With every conducted exported course more genuine enthusiasts of European military close combat and military self defence are in attendance and join the ranks of the oldest private specialist European military unarmed combat and military self defence training provision organisation, the Todd Group, formerly the Baldock Institute. The mix of attendees is diverse including serious civilian enthusiasts, current and former serving military personnel, law enforcement and close protection personnel, all interested in learning true European military close quarters combat and military self defence from the leading source in NZ.
The tradecraft of military armed and unarmed combat and military self- defence provides best chance of threat neutralisation for both males and females regardless of their physical builds and attributes being based on dirty tricks brigade proven practices.
If best of battle proven foul/dirty tactics and skills won’t work for them nothing would provide the capability to neutralise formidable foes.
Conducting small group training including individual tuition training for visiting enthusiasts at Todd Group HQ is an important part of our training provision. While the borders are closed and our international courses circuit is on hold we are expanding our nationwide introductory training provision.
As the late Bill Hall a lifetime proponent and promoter of military self- defence and a former World War II bomber command servicemen would say, military self- defence/unarmed combat is for life and gives you the best chance of winning when there is no other option available.
He would refer to it as your best and cheapest insurance and it is this proven history of defeating formidable foes and being far removed from traditional or sporting practices that attracts practical realists wanting to be their very best by learning the best of MSD/MCQC.
Back at Todd Group HQ advance work for upcoming provincial courses including recruiting is running at capacity.
It is not only the primary tradecraft training that makes course conducting special but it is the people themselves that attend and how they quickly progress developing practical skills competency.
Next up, it is the annual week-long Auckland course of instruction followed by the Wellington area weekend course at our Kapiti depot.
We are getting regular inquiries in regards to conducting introductory short courses in the proposed locations listed on the Todd Group HQ website and will conduct such courses as soon as muster numbers are reached.
We will be conducting more private and general public application courses at Todd Group HQ and Camp Todd this year including self-defence, close combat, defensive tactics and close protection.
