Day 2 mil CQC skills to command in the frost at Camp Todd
It was a very busy time leading up to and throughout the weekend introductory short course at Camp Todd with so much interest in this introductory training.
Four courses of instruction were conducted simultaneously in different training areas as well as a D-WAR (declare war against rape) workshop for females and their male training partners.
The weekend provided introductory training for enthusiasts of European military unarmed combat and military self-defence.
The demand for training continues to increase and it is important that those that are interested are suitable for undertaking phase 1 training and that the training is in line with what they are looking for. This introductory training provided an insight into military unarmed combat training.
The training for new entry phase 1 basic was low intensity skills training in offensive and counter offensive skills as well as seizure prevention and grabs and holds escapes.
There was also basic disarming training and an introduction to defensive tactics control and restraint.
The exponents on day two got to observe a phase one basic test where they could identify how the basic training they underwent can progress on to.
Such participation and exposure provides attending exponents with the facts of the matter of mil CQC/MSD training as a civilian enthusiast.
There was a phase 2 advanced group along with three phase 1 groups training simultaneously. We had a full muster of new entry applicants as well as a group of phase 1 basic continuation training exponents and two candidates preparing for their testing phase on Sunday, July 19th.
The weekend introductory courses we have conducted and will continue to conduct around the regions include an introduction to control and restraint and some courses have a D-WAR anti-and counter rape workshop component.
This weekend short course included assistant instructor and instructor duties training with fourteen instructors in attendance.
Attending exponents on this winter short course got to experience the Camp Todd hard frost training conditions.
The weekend course was kicked off with an introduction to the brain to boot military self-defence and close combat mental toughness enhancement tactics and skills package.
The Brain to Boot mil combative program is an exclusive Todd Group specialist tactics and skills package that includes the manual and audio training exercises.
Mental toughness is the most important part of effective objective achievement, for without it the chances of threat neutralisation are low. The Todd Group being the developers and owners of the Brain to Boot IP specialise in the provision of this most important CQC trade-craft training.

Exponents came from as far south as Invercargill and as far north as Christchurch for this weekend training opportunity.
In recent years more females have been joining up and have been high achieving not only in training but also under testing.
They want to learn military self-defence as the skills are not gender age or weight group categorised and as such the skills have to arm them with best chances of formidable foe threat neutralisation.
The type of exponents by majority are practical realists not interested in traditional or sporting skills but those wanting to train in the best of military self-defence and close combat primary practices specifically for their self-protection.
They are getting savvier in the understanding that when there are no rules and you are the underdog trying to take on a bigger, stronger, violent over-dog at their own game is stupidity.
Many have done their research and know that military self-defence and CQC provides high chances of threat neutralisation by unconventional means.

These types of individuals understand there are no easy or soft options and confidence and competency achievement comes down to commitment and inner-resolve, they want primary CQC/MSD tradecraft practices that have been proven in high level objective achievement and that enhance safety to the highest level humanly possible.
There is no gender, age or weight groups or divisions in CQC training and testing just like in battlefield close quarters combat and street and domestic violence actions on.
They want to train the way they will face and deal with violent threats and understand that anything less than the best of battle proven objective achievement options can increase risk and danger
The World War II army huts, barracks block and mess hall provided a fitting environment for CQC training and combined with the winter cold and full days of training provides a unique training experience.
There were two candidates who volunteered for phase 1 testing, one male and one female.
You can never know for certain how candidates will handle the pressures of such testing and as such cannot prior determine the outcomes.
There are testing phases where no one passes or pass percentages are low, this was not the case on Sunday where both candidates surpassed the phase 1 testing requirements and achieved promotion to phase 2 advanced training which they started yesterday.

The demand for positions on our final intake induction for 2020 that will be conducted next month has led to having to conduct pre-intake familiarisation for those that want to have pre-intake induction exposure.
Being full-time training provision specialists enables us to conduct such familiarisation exposure during the days, evenings and weekends and this is all part of doing our utmost to ensure applicants are fit for purpose and that the training fits with their physical and mental make ups.
The aim is not just to recruit full musters but is to recruit full musters of exponents that are willing, ready and able for the challenges of military unarmed combat and military self-defence as civilian exponents.
New entry exponents undertaking this introductory familiarisation training commented on how surprised they were at the phase testing with a female candidate of considerably less physical size than the male candidate and how well she equipped herself.
Comments included looking at it from a competitive code or traditional styles perspective it certainly would not be the norm for a considerably smaller female to be able to achieve consistent threat neutralisation objectives over a considerably larger and skilled male opponent without the military CQC dirty tactics and tricks.
This is one of the many benefits of European military dirty tricks brigade battle field and urban operators CQC and military self- defence.
The recruiting and combined introductory familiarisation training initiatives have proven to be very successful with the majority of attendees applying for upcoming intakes or intensive week-long courses of instruction immediately after the introductory exposure.
Applications are being received on a daily basis which is to be expected with no other European mil CQC/MSD training providers in the country.
There is no substitute for best odds and highest chances of formidable foe threat neutralisation when it comes to one’s self protection and this is something that more and more civilian enthusiasts are realising.
After training and dinner the evenings provided the opportunity for delivery of mil CQC/MSD tradecraft lectures and to answer attendee’s questions.
The questions are always diverse but what the majority want to know of is instructor’s military close combat and military self-defence qualifications and the history of the group.
There are a good number of questions other instructor’s styles and systems and individual skills and techniques.
Then there is interest the instructor’s use of the skills and real life experience dealing with violence.
Getting their knowledge and resources from the trade-craft development source is something that is beneficial to our rank and file.
They know our Chief and Master instructors have earned their rank over decades the military close combat tradecraft way and not by flash and dash training or on-line instruction.
There is no substitute for hands-on tactics and skills training and even though it was at an introductory level for new entry attending exponents this is what they got for two days.
The Covid-19 lockdown has seen a huge rise in applications and inquiries and has led to our Dunedin HQ services provision expansion as well as regional depots weekend training initiatives.
The next two weeks will be focused on introductory familiarisation for the August intake as well as the final organisation and conducting of the annual Auckland course which is being conducted August 3rd –8th.
September 5th-6th will include a weekend short course at Kapiti for lower North island members and new entry enthusiasts.
September 26th and 27th will be a similar short course of instruction in Christchurch for Canterbury residents.
