Brain to Boot mental toughness manual and training package

My Brain to Boot recently released manual all 449 pages of it and soon to be released accompanying audio training package has been a work of over 30 years.

I have been most fortunate and privileged as a civilian to have been European military close quarters combat exponent and instructor and master instructor trained and qualified.

Achieving master instructor Rank in CQC and being the Master-Chief instructor of the Todd group formerly the Baldock institute the oldest private training provider of European military CQC globally to me has been a lifetime commitment great responsibility and great privilege.

There are many martial arts and combat sports instructors out there but very few instructors that have trained tested and qualified moving up through the military combative ranks achieving master instructor status.

My military CQC instructor colleagues are primarily operators and by majority their careers are made up of service as operators with lesser work hours involved with CQC instructing.

I have well over 100,000 hours involved in my trade dating back over 35 years.

I have been extremely fortunate to be involved with the training provision of CQC to elite forces and regular forces for close to 25 years.

I was fortunate to be trained by several of the evolutionary pioneers of World War II military unarmed combat/hand to hand combat.

When I took over the role of chief instructor to military services and unit’s one of my most important duties was the development of the doctrine and training packages.

There are many trade required practices and skill sets that military instructors must have high level competency in including having a thorough knowledge and understanding of all the military combative terminology ranging from drills commands through to the medical aspects of CQC.

Mental toughness enhancement and psychological conditioning for battle are very important components of military armed and unarmed combat.

You can get most people physically fitter and you can develop skills competency in most individuals.

However without a high level of intestinal fortitude and inner resolve all the fitness and skills in the world are of little use in a real-life actions on close quarters combat encounter.

It’s like the analogy we use on military psychological for conditioning courses.

A blade or firearm with a handler does not have intent and as such is no threat.

The same weapon in the hands of a handler without intent and intestinal fortitude can be more of a danger than means of threat neutralization if used against its handler.

I have always known the value of dirty and deadly tactics and skills to neutralise even the most formidable highly trained foes.

Even these most dirty and deadly methods of human destruction require a high level of mental toughness to achieve threat neutralization.

While you cannot completely change an individual’s level of mental toughness inner resolve and intestinal fortitude you certainly can enhance the psychological capabilities of those with the will to win.

The Brain to Boot was initially a military package I instructed to special operations groups and later a specific course introductory variation to regular forces.

It was never meant to be a publicly available manual.

However with the grapevine working so well and with it being instructed on Todd group courses as well as military courses the word got out and the requests for such information and training have been constant.

The reality is violence of the unarmed and street weapon type is right throughout society and there is more chance of such attack in civilian life than when armed operationally.

In the military like navigation without a compass is your getting back to the most basic required skills so is unarmed combat when you have lost primary weapons capabilities.

It not only promotes no panic basic level threat neutralization but also reduces fear and panic enabling maintained mental toughness.

There are many people training in different arts and styles that talk themselves up but in their mind they will be well aware of their individual level of mental toughness or lack of it.

Just like there are many people that train in techniques that they would never be prepared to use against a live blade and are not prepared to admit are flawed and downright dangerous.

When I begun to compile the Brain to Boot manual it initially was going to be a how to more than why manual.

This was until some respected friends and fellow combative instructors including some highly educated individuals I hold in the highest regard recommended I cover the evolution and physiology as well as the required psychological and physical tactics and skills to enhance combative mental toughness.

Going back through thousands of pages of notes and draft edited copies over three decades made for some very difficult and long hours of compiling the finished copy.

The intention of the Brain to Boot was that an individual regardless of style or system that had the combative smarts and will to seek information and training in the improvement of their mental toughness capabilities could do so regardless of style or system.

This all begins with the individual being honest with themselves in relation to their strengths and weaknesses.

The Brain to Boot would enable them to add to their particular style or system the mental and physical tactics and skills from the Brain to Boot to increase their combative capabilities.

The manual includes checklists of your body, skills and mind so you can effectively self evaluate and identify areas of weakness that require increased attention.

The Brain to Boot includes considerable history evolution physiology and psychological information and explanation as well as the training section that is all about utilisation of the tactics and skills components in a correct order of execution to enhance both mental and physical combative capabilities.

I had to call on my decades of exponent and instructor training to ensure the training section of the Brain to Boot would be simple to understand and use in training so as to improve the user’s capabilities for real life actions on encounters.

Keeping the users senses at high alert by having to listen to the whisper of commands and instructions in expected actions on encounters and deal with short sharp loud commands in unexpected actions on encounters provides the means for combining of the previous with the individual users decided techniques and develops psychological enhancement and combative competency.

The training section includes outlining the practice of the training exercises. Shadow training, impact targets, putdowns, military CQC drills, when training kicks in, effective range in relation to the length of your bodily extremities, CQC mind training exercises and post actions on encounters minds eye evaluations, training to objective achievement and threat neutralisation. The training section focuses also on exercises to enhance mental toughness such as training when blindfolded, tethered to an enemy training partner or under mechanical restraint.

The Brain to Boot concludes with information on how to rapidly eliminate the physiological effects of adrenaline and other released hormones post actions on encounters including in high level intensity training and to neutralize post testing effects.

The audio training exercises available to those who purchase the manual for downloading by password enable the user to initially practice static and marking time offensive and counter offensive assault skills employments under expected actions on encounters and unexpected immediate actions on encounters.
