August 2025 Thailand small group and individual tuition training

Todd Group Thailand training field

The Thailand group and individual tuition training is part of a South East Asia-Europe courses circuit and being combined with advance work for upcoming courses for the last quarter of 2025 as well as meetings with new corporate clients to plan training for their personnel in 2026, there has been little down time and we have only finished the South East Asian first component of this training provision circuit.

The courses so far have not enabled training photos but here is a brief report.

The Thailand based training provision included both small group and individual tuition training at our Todd Group standalone training site Thailand and at one of our satellite sites.

Attendees on the Thailand part of the circuit included Brits and Thais.

I don’t understand why we continue to get applications for courses after the courses have commenced including on the last day of the week-long group course just conducted.

In my era applicants, exponents and proponents read in complete the course joining information and instructions and made sure they knew all the details and complied with all requirements, conditions and turned up on time with correct uniform and kit.

The same cannot be said today and they are reminded European mil self-defence and CQC for civilians is a privilege and not a given right and if they are not responsible, reliable and committed we don’t want them on course. The rules including CQC code of conduct contracts are not negotiable and the course orders and instruction must be abided by.

They need to know their basic entry level training requires quiet commitment and to be seen progressing hard and not heard voicing their opinions or disrupting the training environment and training progression and continuity.

Entitlement is something they may get in their lives but on our courses all exponents are equals and must conduct themselves in the correct manner.

The majority of attendees want and expect the mil training regime and do not appreciate those that talk themselves up and do not let their actions be the indicator of their actual capabilities.

It can be problematic with exported courses where new entry applicants are unknowns and with the course make up being individuals traveling from multiple countries it can come down to identifying negative traits on course and having to introduce them to some positive bastardisation and hard fact descriptions of their negative traits.

These are all realities of current times courses conducting globally that need to be addressed and dealt with.

With four days to go of individual tuition training slots before heading for Europe we are still getting inquiries and applications for August and also for the return after Europe limited available positions individual tuition training in Thailand early September.

While over the 98 years of the Todd Group training provision we have seen many civi fighting arts and competitive codes based self-defence styles come and go, we are increasing our footprint and scope in every part of our training provision and development.

This very much applies to the over 30 years involvement in mil close combat in our international hub country of Thailand.

The completed first week course out at the Todd Group Thailand standalone CQC MSD training site was conducted at a fitting environment for close combat and mil self-defence training being out in a rural setting where it’s all very quiet and peaceful and where there are no interruptions or distractions, just the daily visits from local dogs that sit their quietly all day just enjoying being around the lads and lasses on courses.

The outdoors shade shelter is a very important bit of kit for without it you would cook out on the open training field.

It was high temperatures every day and hydration control was essential along with sun protection.

The group training did not identify any candidates ready for volunteering Phase 1 Basic testing but we will see them again on upcoming courses getting their hours up and increasing their competency and those that are not cut out for MSD and mil CQC training and testing will self-eliminate or withdraw.

It’s all a process about setting and maintaining highest close combat standards where there are no soft easy political passes or backhand salutes and rank must be earned the only way; that being the hard way.

From drills to command to an introduction to mil CQC toughener training and contact inoculation exponents get the chance to see just how willing able ready they are or aren’t.

The exponents have the chance to select unarmed offensive assault skills that best fit with their mental and physical makeups before moving onto unarmed counter offensive assault skillsets.

All unarmed offensive assault and counter offensive assault skills are backed up by full employment strategies including full contingency options.

Attention to detail can be lacking more than in years gone by in exponents today and the importance of them combining the brain to boot mental toughness tactics and skills with every skill execution unfortunately can often be lapse and as such so can lesson capability including objective achievement.

It comes down to laziness and we try to get through to them that without uncompromising CQC mental toughness from the outset and with every skill initiation and employment they are reducing their chances of defeating a formidable foe.

While many may talk themselves up in these times they soon get found out under actions on training contact and under disarming of real training weapons.

We have seen every type of exponent over the past 98 years on courses and can see through their excuses and reasons for failing to achieve reading them like a book.

Grabs and holds must be put on with force once exponents have achieved skills competency and include sudden aggressive shock actions.

There is nothing predictable and no prior decided options like choreography when exponents achieve an enabling level of competency and capability leading up to Phase 1 Basic testing.

They must understand unlike the action movies where actors can endure multiple actions on including being wounded multiple times under real life or death battlefield or urban criminal assaults a single action can have devastating or deadly effects in a flash.

There are no easy ways and it comes down to hard uncompromising training until you are as confident competent and capable as you as an individual can be.

Just like in our opinion there is no better means of protecting oneself up against violence than our European mil CQC and MSD especially when the odds are against you through physical attributes disparities and fight skills capabilities disparities.

Being the oldest and only private specialist training providers of our European mil close combat and mil self-defence training is what attracts the numbers of exponents on course at Camp Todd, Todd Group HQ and to our international training provision hub country of Thailand as well as to our depots courses and attendees must understand that the training is hard, heavy and hostile in many ways and they need to embrace it or they will fail to prosper from the unique and special experience that as a civi they are permitted to be part of.

The skills all being same system share commonality and are cohesive making them combine in fluid actions minimising momentum drops which is most important under real life actions on.

The skills being foul, dirty and for the military deadly could never be used under fighting codes rules and give someone under assault best chances of defeating their assaulter not merely surviving.

The practical realists that apply for courses fully understand this and want best of battle proven dirty tricks brigade means and methods that provide even the underdog up against an over dog assaulter the best chances of threat neutralising.

We leave all attendees post course with no doubt what our mil CQC and MSD is all about and what is required for them to achieve by ongoing dedication and commitment.

They learn wanting to train in mil close combat and mil self-defence on a weeklong intensive Todd Group course of instruction means exponents have to be able to train the mil CQC/MSD way leaving there lifestyles behind them for a week and doing what they are told and the way they are told without complaint or excuses.

We prove successful testing candidates one by one and until they have proven themselves under testing and been invited to apply for advanced Phase 2 training they hold no rank or status.

There are no easy ways or soft options to be the best combatant you can be other than an uncompromising commitment to be the best exponent you can be and all exponents time frames to achieve this vary in regard to their training frequency, dedication, learning capabilities and most importantly to their individual work ethics, acceptance of the training requirements, respect for the chain of command and a realistic factual interpretation of their actual capabilities status with no excuses or BS reasons, just the hard facts of the matter.

Mental toughness is everything as in enables the individual to commit to training testing and surpassing the required standards to achieve rank and promotion.

We do not want to attract the masses as to do so would come down to having to sort out those that are not suitable for our training and that is why we have such a to the point course joining process.

There is no place for the unsafe or unstable in our mil close combat and mil self-defence training.

Now we complete our final week in Thailand before heading for Germany.
